Due to weather conditions the Mark Bisnow event scheduled for this Thursday morning, February 11th, has been postponed. Once we have more details we will provide them to you. We hope that all of you are safe and warm.

Networking in the 21st Century Join Mark Bisnow - entrepreneur, businessman and publisher of the Bisnow Real Estate Newsletter- at a CREW Special Event. Please note that this special event with Mark Bisnow is on THURSDAY, February 11, at McCormick & Schmick's. The program will begin at 8:00 am sharp.

Mark will lead an interactive discussion with CREW members and real estate leaders about the changes in networking habits and preferences over the last several years.

This program is for you, by you; we want you to be involved. All attendees are encouraged to bring questions for Mark and for other attendees about networking at events and online. Also, bring your examples of success stories with the "new media" and/or old-school networking techniques.

The Impact of TARP Funds on the Local Economy
Wednesday, March 10 | 7:30 am Breakfast Meeting

Join us for a valuable discussion with experts in the field. Hear an overview of TARP with specific focus on programs designed to support commercial real estate and mortgage based securities markets, as well as SIGTARP'S efforts to police fraud, waste and abuse of taxpayers' dollars. Listen to the impact the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act has had on our region, both with respect to Real Estate and wider ranging ARRA opportunities.

Hear Christine L. Romero, Chief of Staff, SIGTARP-Office of the Special Inspector General for the Troubled Asset Relief Program, and Norman Berthaut, Business Development Specialist, Montgomery County Department of Economic Development, as they take us through the regulatory maze towards economic recovery. Leave this event well informed about the tools that are helping to stabilize the region's economy!

The Community Service Committee will collect donations at the March program for the Mother's Day Gift Shop at National Center for Children and Families. The Gift Shop gives the children at NCCF a chance to get a gift for Mother's Day. Popular items include: bath/shower products, purses, jewelry, cosmetics, nail polish and hair accessories. Gifts should range from $15-$20 per child. Monetary donations for CREW to purchase gifts also are accepted.

Germantown, White Flint and Great Seneca Science Corridor

Please join a distinguished panel of speakers who will outline the recommendations and implementation strategies of the Germantown Sector Plan, White Flint Sector Plan and the Great Seneca Science Corridor Master Plan, all adopted in 2010. Each plan focuses on a different element of Montgomery County's demographics and geography, yet each encourages "smart growth" by focusing on redevelopment and reuse of existing sites. The panelists will present an overview of each plan individually and how each fits into the greater changes coming to the County.

Make sure you are up to date on the new land use policies in Montgomery County as they move forward into reality.

See the Great Seneca Science Corridor via a Limited Edition Bus Tour
September 24, 2010 - 10:00 am-11:30 am

Join us for a guided bus tour of the Great Seneca Science Corridor led by Nancy Floreen, President of the Montgomery County Council, and Elaine Amir, Executive Director, Johns Hopkins Montgomery County.

The tour begins at The Johns Hopkins University Montgomery County Campus with an introduction to the Sector Plan from the key players involved, as well as a special discussion from Lynn J. Langer, President of Women in Bio, about the opportunities for the bio-tech industry in Montgomery County. The bus tour will circle the Great Seneca Science Corridor. Our speakers will identify existing bio-tech and technology users, as well as opportunities created by the Sector Plan for new development. The tour will begin at Gilchrist Hall on the JHU Montgomery County campus and include the site of the National Cancer Institute.
